Frequently Asked Questions About RIM
What does RIM stand for and what does it do?
RIM stands for Regenerating Images in Memory and is a mind/body transformational process, grounded in neuroscience, that removes blocks by regenerating negative images in a more positive, affirming way and releases negative, stuck emotions allowing the client to enjoy greater health, love and success.
Who created RIM?
Dr. Deborah Sandella PhD, RN, award winning therapist, university professor, best selling author, and founder of the RIM Institute, created the RIM method out of her decades of professional practice. She has trained hundreds of RIM Facilitators in the US and abroad.
How is the RIM process performed and how long does a session last?
RIM (Regenerating Images in Memory) is typically a closed eye process and can be done in person, by phone or Zoom. As a client-led process, the client is completely aware at all times and is in complete control. A single session is typically 1-1 1/2 hours long. However, some RIM skills can be performed in as little as 10 minutes, for instance, when RIM tools are used as an adjunct during a traditional coaching session.
Who would benefit from RIM?
RIM (Regenerating Images in Memory) is extremely beneficial for all ages, male or female. The RIM process can be used for personal or professional purposes and RIM facilitators often specialize in their own area of interest such as peak performance, corporate or executive leadership, stress and anxiety, addiction, depression, PTSD, marriage or divorce coaching, men or women in transition, and more. Can RIM be used in a group setting?
Yes, RIM can be very effective in a group setting. We currently host group conference calls for coaches, therapists, social workers and anyone in a helping profession, almost on a weekly basis. This allows us to introduce this amazing process to as many people as possible throughout the world. The difference between a private session and a group session is that a private RIM session is fully client-led and totally tailored to the client's unique experience. The group experience by comparison, is more facilitator led, and may feel somewhat like guided imagery, yet clients still have their own experience and often have profound outcomes. Many group participants find themselves wanting private sessions.
Can RIM be used in a corporate environment?
When there is a block to achieving the desired outcomes, in behavior, relationships, or performance, RIM is about results. With wide acceptance of Coaching, Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness in the workplace, more and more corporate environments recognize that executives and employees are massively human. Whether we like it or not, our emotions are with us 24/7. If you are a coach, mentor, leader, etc. and working in a corporate setting, RIM can be used as an adjunct to whatever tools you're currently using. As mentioned above, you could perform a full RIM session or just use some of the RIM tools for short periods of time. RIM is especially useful when shifting perspectives and intellectual coaching models are not adequate.
Is RIM considered therapy?
RIM (Regenerating Images in Memory) is not therapy, and does not use therapy skills. However, RIM may have many therapeutic benefits. It can be used as a stand alone tool or an adjunct to other modalities. RIM Facilitators do not diagnose or prescribe.
Can RIM be used on anyone?
RIM should not be used on anyone who experiences breaks with reality or has been diagnosed with psychosis, bipolar or schizophrenia. Unless otherwise qualified to do so, RIM facilitators do not diagnose or treat mental illness. RIM is completely client-led and does not introduce any analysis or facilitator-led manipulation.
Can anyone learn the RIM method?
RIM is relatively easy to learn and can be used as a stand alone tool for helping people release the emotional blocks holding them back. There is not a specific prerequisite educational background required to learn RIM. Currently, we are focused on teaching RIM to Coaches, Social Workers, Therapists, retreat leaders, and anyone in a helping profession. Click here for more information about learning RIM and the up coming classes. If you are a coach, RIM qualifies for 36 ICF credits. If you are a Clinical Social Worker, RIM qualifies for 27 CEU's.
Are there different Levels to Learning RIM?
Yes, you can get started practicing RIM in as little as three months, and there is no limit to how far you can take the work. The first step is RIM Essentials, which gives you the ability to perform RIM sessions and is designed to be an adjunct service to the work you're already doing as a coach, therapist, counselor, teacher, etc. If you desire, you can then continue on to RIM Certification with the founder, Dr. Deb Sandella. Finally, there is Master Certification, Train the Trainer to become licensed to teach RIM, and a Certification to be a Goodbye Hurt & Pain Retreat Facilitator.
